The choir of the Jewish Community in Macedonia, “Mois Hasson”, conducted by maestro Tomislav Shopov, performing songs on Hebrew, ladino and Macedonian, participated at the national festival “10 days of the Krusevo Republic” , on the event named “Tribute to commander Rafael Kamhi and Heroes of Ilindin” (“Jewish evening”). Their performance was followed by enthusiasm, applauses and cheers by the audience.
This event was announced by the President of the Festival Council, Dr. Pande Lazarevski, that additionally explained historical role of the commander Rafael Kamhi in Macedonian struggle for independence, and stressed close links and friendship between Macedonians and Jews and Macedonia and Israel, pointing also role of Macedonians in foundation of the state of Israel.
The event called “Tribute to commander Rafael Kamhi and Heroes of Ilindin” (“Jewish evening”) is already declared as traditional in this national festival that every year commemorates Macedonian national liberation “Ilinden” uprising and epic 10 days of Krusevo Republic in 1903. The very event was organized and sponsored by the Jewish Community in the Republic of Macedonia and Holocaust Memorial Fund of the Jews from Macedonia.
